It's a national day of mourning for the late President Ford. All non-essential government offices such as the Post Office will be closed.
I haven't heard anything about school closings, and I suspect that would be up to the discretion of individual school districts. Watch your local news, and if your school is closed, I'm sure it'll be mentioned.
And please, please humor this old ex-English teacher -- it's "didn't."

It is a national day of mourning...but I don't believe that schools are closed because of it. Schools need to be in session for a certain amount of days. So a funeral shouldn't keep this from happening. I know many places are still on their holiday break...so you may not have school because of this. Im a teacher and I have to go back to school on Jan 3...but my son's school doesn't go back until Jan. 8th. Look up your schools web site, it should tell you. :P

pends on location of school most are still out for holiday break though so no loss there but tommorrow is a national day of mourning because of President Ford's death. If your school is supposed to start tommorrow you are in school.
