I believe that they will be an above .500 team, but their run of consecutive NL East titles will be over for a few more years. The Mets have turned their club around which will make it tough for anyone else to win that division. I believe the Braves will be a top 10 team, but wont make the playoffs simply because of the Mets being in their division.

Yes, The Braves should contend for the NL east championship and possibly make a playoff run. With Andrew in the final year of his contract he should put up some big numbers. If Hudson and Hampton pitch decent they should have a solid starting rotation with Smoltz at the head. Their bullpen is much improved and shouldn't blow many games in the late innings. Young players like McCann and Francoure should add some explosiveness to the line-up. Last, they have the best coach in baseball, Bobby Cox. They sure didn't win all those consecutive division titles with talent alone. I remember when they were picked 4th preseason before they won division title #13. They should be pretty good.

im afraid not...look for hudson and/or andruw to be shipped out in July. the owners are selling the team, so they dont want to lose money. when the new owners take over, will find new coaches and a new GM, so it could be a few years before the braves become contenders again.

No.

OK, so you don't think 14 straight is enough?

One of the consequences of being that good for that long is for that period, your team simply doesn't get anywhere near the top draft picks for that period. That makes it almost impossible to stay at or near the top for any length of time. And for every free agent that a team signs, they lose early round draft picks, thus putting themselves that much deeper in the hole in the future.

They have a chance of maybe making the play-offs because let's face it the NL sucks. But I don't think they'll get far because they're missing a guy by the name of Carlos Lee, while they have young raw talent, they won't make it to far this year.

As a lifelong Braves fan, I think they would do great this year..... without Chipper Jones and Bobby Cox screwing it up for everyone.

My heart hopes yes, but my brain says no. Until that lame *** group of people who call themselves an owners group decide that they actually have the power to make a good return on their investment and sign some players the Bravos, and their fans, will suffer. Arthur Blank save us please!!!

As long as Cox is the manager they will have a chance.
