Yeah I would go on commuter rail, it's not much slower than driving and actually probably quicker by the time you find parking downtown. I'm sure you could park far cheaper at the South Attleboro commuter rail station. And the monthly pass - even though fares just went way up - is still worth it.

Avoid the aggravation and the Big Dig take the Commuter Rail
Drive=travel time + gas + Boston Parking Rates + vehicle maintenance

You're right, Commuter Rail certainly would be fastest. But then you'd have to deal with finding a bus from Attleboro to Providence, etc. It may be easier to take one bus direct from Providence to Boston. The train will go faster, but you'd have to deal with switching, etc.

MBTA. There is a commuter rail "T" that leaves out South Attleboro that goes to South Station.

Beckyriz5has it right -- I cannot believe how
ShouldBeW (who answers a lot of Boston questions), tonysanti and Mike R are not aware that the trains go all the way to Providence - have for years.

The MBTA is the best bet. You can buy tickets in the coffe shop in the station right across from Providence Place and they have a great schedule.

Least enpensive is the T
if you want a little upper class you can take Amtrak
If you decide to take the T they have passes that you can use each time you have to take it (this may be less expensive)
you can check out rates, routes and any other questions at www.mbta.com or www. amtrak.com
