His first name is actually William. Rose was his last name at birth. When his mother remarried and his new father adopted him his last name was changed to Bailey. When he went into music he returned to using his original last name of Rose because he didn't want to be known as Bill Bailey (like in the old song "Won't You Come Home Bill Bailey?")
