I had 3 incisions during my surgery a week ago Sunday. They stitched it with dissolvable stitches on the inside and put steri strips on the outside. they said they would peel off after about 5 days and it has been 8 days. any suggestions? the doc was closed today. I will call tommorrow, but just wanted to see what anyone else thinks, or how these things work exactly.

As an EMT we use these. The strips basically hold the skin together that way it can heal on its on. It is less painful and it is also cheaper that regular stitches. They will come off with time. I would still contact my doctor as a just in case but more that likely he will tell you not to worry about them.

Mine always take longer to come off for some reason. I've had two surgeries in the past year that used them, and both times they took about 2 weeks to come off all the way.

They will eventually fall off so just leave them alone. We use them all the time in the nursing home to hold skin tears together.

If he told you to peel them off go ahead but you can wait and get the go ahead officially from the Doc. they work great!!
