If they were only going for a 3 hour tour, why did they pack so many things with them? It seems like they had everything but the kitchen sink with them when they were stranded.

I have asked that question many many times. I guess it's a good thing they brought all that stuff with them since they did get stranded huh?

Great question. Gilligan, skipper, maryanne and professor wore the same things almost every day didnt they? The howells and ginger were way to superficial having brought an excess of jewlry and fine threads. I wonder if they synthesized garments using raw material on the island though.

THAT is the $64,000 dollar question my friend...an ageless question asked through the decades.

But , personally, I think that that a director or crew member let it slip and gave Skipper and Gilligan a heads up as to what actually going to happen and they would need to be prepared to spend 3 years on that island.

The Howell's were the only ones who "over packed"....that's what rich people do, not that I would ever know....by the way, I waited on Mary Ann a couple of years ago while waitressing, and she still tips like she's on the island.....

well they had to have all those things packed so they could spread the show over many years .. i mean what if they had nothing and nothing happened.. besides a lot of things were suppose to wash up every once in awhile on shore.. and they made alot of things ..

I've had the same thought too. I guess it's because movies stars and millionaires can never decide on what to wear. Everyone else basically had the same clothes.

cuz it's a show and it's fiction. The movie with Tom Hanks "Cast Away" was more realistic .

Such is the life of television, where they can make things as unrealistic as they want.
