If it's an entry door you are probably going to want to install a dead bolt. if it's interier bedroom, bathroom , basement or something like that a chain lock would probably be your easiest bet or a slide lock or even a hook and eye. But it will depend on how tightly you wan tthe door to be locked and what amount of security you are triing to achieve from it. All of these locks can be installed by a do it yourselfer. Good Luck

go to a lock smith.the one i go to sells everything you are asking for.hotels have a neat locking system.my favorite is a high pitch alarm that just hangs on the door knob.
