Put one of the two plants in the sun and the other in the shade. Check to see that moisture remains the same (don't pour the same water on each pot, since more will evaporate from the one in the sun.)
The one with less sun will become thin and scrawny and put its growth into searching for light while the one in the light will have far more leaves, etc.

When I was in school we did such an experiment where one plant was in the open and two were in either total darkness or minimal light. All had moderate water.
I can tell you this, our little bean plant required very little light for survival. They turned yellowish but survived with only a dime-sized hole.
If you are going to make a completely dark box you may also need some kind of gas permeable fabric or filter paper so you don't suffocate the plant. I suppose you could put both plants in a box, one with a window, one without.
Any experiment is only as good as it's design. Good luck.

Put one houseplant in a window, the other in a closet. water equally (Don't water more than once a week, and be sure not to overwater and drown either plant.) . observe plants over 2 weeks time.
record differences in plants after that time. which looks healthier? IS one yellowing, sickly, drooping, or dead?
