Most of these people answering this questions are lemmings Joe had the most intelligent answers here, for those of you that believe man is the cause how do you explain that every time there has been an increase in solar activity it coincides with a warming phase on the the earth. The Sun has been going thru a increase in solar flares for over the last decade. I think people need to do some of their own research and stop being followers.

The earth is warming and has been doing so for the last 8,000 years. The dispute is about whether it is mainly man caused or whether it would have happened anyway.
Claude Allegre, a former government official and an active member of France's Socialist Party, wrote an editorial on September 21, 2006, in the French newspaper L'Express titled "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" detailing his newfound skepticism about manmade global warming. Clause Allegre, a decorated scientist, was until recently a proponent of the man made theory but is now defecting from that camp.

By the way I have read articles in Science magazines such as Scientific American and Discover that tend to agree with Joe's comments. So Bam Bam, that maybe where he got his "blind and misguided " information.

Global Warming is absolutely real. That is not what Al Gore is contending. He is saying that humans have a major effect on it.
The truth is, we don't really know. There is plenty of evidence that the Earth's global temperature is on a natural cycle. There have been times when the Earth was hotter than it is now; much hotter.
Take the Early Medieval Warm Period, for example. There is evidence of Viking whaling villages in part of Greenland that are now completely ice locked.
Gore uses the 'hockey stick' graph in his lectures. The National Academy of Sciences, however, has disputed this particular model, citing the 'Little Ice Age' of the High Middle Ages and the Early Medieval Warm Period.
The belief, though, is that the temperature is ever increasing this time at a very high rate.
I tend to lean in the direction of no. I believe Gore is incorrect. The evidence opposing him is too great, in my opinion, for me to agree with him.

Is the Earth Warming? Yes.
Did we just go through a Mini Ice-Age? Yes, the 15th Century to 19th Century.
The Study of Weather is less than a Century and a Half Old
We can't predict the weather beyond a few days, how can we predict years, decades, centuries?
Is it gonna be catastrophic? Maybe, last I checked there weren't very many people around the last time the earth went through a heating cycle who can tell us what that was like.
Is it our fault, maybe partially, but not nearly the extent as Gore would hope, yes I said hope.
Consensus is not Science. Want proof? Look at history.
The 1970's there was a scare that we were about to enter another Ice Age, due to human actions. No dice.
This subject has been studied what 3 years?
The Media blew this out of proportion. Think they have an agenda?

Is anyone else as blown away by this bonehead they call "Joe"? Where does he get his facts? The hottest year ever recorded was 2005, it wasn't in the 30's. The world has been cooling since 1998? That's so false I can't even argue with that. He obviously hasn't done ANY reading (if he can read - he may have had someone type that for him) on the subject of global warming.
I'm not saying that I want to eliminate the use of fossil fuels, but Al Gore is right. He is just reporting the facts that he gets from academia.
This "Joe" guy is blinded by his misguided loyalties. Just so you know, I'm a republican voter and I still think that this guy is a bonehead.

I think he's right. World population has reached a point where human pollution is killing our planet. Our eco-system is eventually going to burn itself out, but we do have the option of extending the life of our planet. A few thousand, or even a few hundred extra years could mean a lot to human-kind.
My thinking has changed on this, in part, because of Al Gore's film. We take a lot of things for granted because of scientific evidence and I think it's time we started thinking of global warming as more than just a theory.
I don't think any of us alive today will really know for sure what the outcome will be; but it can't really hurt for us to start taking better care of our home, can it? As far as I know, it's the only one we have.

From 1931 to 1939 the temperature was hotter than it is now. Sone of the highest temperatures ever recorded was in 1936. It got so hot and dry that the Midwest dried up and blew away. The eastern states was covered in a dust cloud. Al Gore hadn’t invented global warming so they called it the “ GREAT DUST BOWL. “ Have anyone seen the Midwest coming by your door?
Don't fall for all the global warming doom and gloom stories. Man has been predicting environmental doom for decades. Remember Erlich's Population Bomb. The world was supposed to be plunged into worldwide famine back in the 80's. Billions were supposed to die off because the planet could not sustain us. Did it happen? Al Gore claims to be an expert but never presents factual scientific evidence to support his claims. This
No less than 4 times in the past century has the media sounded the alarm about climate change. First it was global cooling, then global warming, then cooling again, now warming again. Do you sense a pattern here? We go through cooling and warming cycles, and the media jumps on it and tries to scare the hell out of us. The global temperature has been cooling since 1998. In about 10-15 more years, the alarmist media will notice that we are going through another cooling cycle, and sound the alarm again about global cooling.
Also realize that some 'greenies' want to limit the use of fuels to inhibit 'green house gases' - this means that coal and petroleum will not be allowed. Yet they don't propose any alternatives. Nearly all the electrical energy produced in this country is generated by coal and fossil fuels.
The current plans of the extreme environmentalist will destroy the economy and liveable conditions in this country. Yet, there is no attempt to make China and India reduce carbon emissions, just the current industrialized nations, especially the USA. China and India are two of the greatest polluters.
Is the climate changing, yes, do we know why? Probably not, because ever time a true scientist presents research that the greenies disagree with or it doesn't fit their agenda, attempts are made to discredit the scientist and his research.

The earth has been in constant change through out it's history and before man. The earth has even rotated on it's axis several times. All that it would take to plunge the earth into another ice age is a large volcano.

Now what have any of you personally done to stop it? I notice you are using fossil fuels for electricity to answer questions on yahoo from your computer! Anyone quit driving, and their mode of transportation is now a bike? Is your house made out of recycled products? Do you use any aerosol products? Does this mean we should not allow the government to use tax payer dollars for the rebuilding of New Orleans, being's it is under sea level and the sea is going to rise? If people don't have flood insurance on the coast should they recieve any financial aid from the tax doles when their house floods?
