I'm not sure what the traditional funeral practices are among Sunni Muslims, and I think that is a decision best left up to his family. No matter how strongly we feel about Saddam, I think that his family deserves respect and the right to mourn their loss.
That includes disposing of the remains in accordance to their religious practices, rather than out of vengeance or any other motive.

Saddam was a Sunni Muslim and he has been buried according to his religious belief. Americans have been helpful in Iraq in the last moment. In Iraq politics is very hostile. This era must end. Please pray for the safety of people living /posted in Iraq.

Well...there was no chance of his body being burnt b/c that is prohibited in Islam, the religion to which he and most of the people in Iraq belong.

The matter of the disposal of His bdoy should have been left up to the relatives of His victims. It is Their right to determine just what level of degradation should be metered out upon His remains.
