When I type in a search in my search engine at my parents house (I can't remember if it's yahoo or google) it brings up a normal looking page with different choices on it. However, when I click on one of the choices it takes me to a competely different web page. Many times it takes me to a web page that is listing stores that might carry something that I was searching for. Has anybody else had this problem, or know how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks a bunch.

I have put Spybot on the computer, as well as lavasoft's adaware. To the retards that said that is what a search engine is supposed to to, it's not taking me to the designated page. If I search for the white sox, it will list the white sox page at mlb.com, but when I click on the link, it takes me to a completely different web page all together.

Dude, You want to try the most powerful search engine, Try the link below. The problem is you are probably being redirected by by a browser hijacker. So every time you go to search from that browser.Example Internet explorer. you are being channeled elswhere, some times the channeling is so intense, it goes no where. Spybot should get rid of it. I use it along with AVG anti Spy the link is below.
Another way to get rid of it manually is to disable all browser helpers, believe me, they aren't helping you at all!

Internet search engines are special sites on the Web that are designed to help people find information stored on other sites. There are differences in the ways various search engines work, but they all perform three basic tasks: * They search the Internet -- or select pieces of the Internet -- based on important words. * They keep an index of the words they find, and where they find them. * They allow users to look for words or combinations of words found in that index. Early search engines held an index of a few hundred thousand pages and documents, and received maybe one or two thousand inquiries each day. Today, a top search engine will index hundreds of millions of pages, and respond to tens of millions of queries per day. In this article, we'll tell you how these major tasks are performed, and how Internet search engines put the pieces together in order to let you find the information you need on the Web.

Sounds like the PC was "hijacked". Download and run CWSHREDDER. It's free, painless, and works great.
If it's one of the popular hijackers, cwshredder will remove it from your computer. Here's a link to it (or google it)
http://tinyurl.com/4ve5o
After that, run trend micro's housecall. It'll scan the pc for viruses. It's also free, and will remove any viruses that it finds.
Here's the link: http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
*Some other so called virus checkers, will scan your pc, but won't fix them until you buy the software. Don't fall for those.
The two I mentioned here are free, and are recommended
**The "housecall" mentioned above may take a while to run, so plan on being at your parents a few hours.

That is how search engines work. If you type in "baseball" it will give you listings related to baseball; whether that is team websites, fan pages, or people selling baseball equipment or memorobilia. Sounds like normal search engine results.

That is what a search engine does. It searches all websites for you, and when you click on the link it takes you to that website.

You need to set your browser as your default browser. Wish I could tell you how to do this, but you didn't mention what search engine you use.

Try to do a spyware, adware scan. Your browser may be haijacked.
Next to try is to reset your browser setting. clear all the cache, temporary internet files and such.
BTW, I recommend you try the firefox than IE.
