I want to pierce my labret from home. I did my ears with a thumbtack - would that work just as well for a labret piercing, or what else should I use? Any other information would be much appreciated.

I would get it done somewhere else, but I can't. I don't have the money (still Xmas shopping. Very behind) and I'm too young to get one without a signed permission slip, which my mother won't supply. And I want one anyways. Yes I know I'm acting like an idiotic bratty little wanna-be "rebel", but I have wanted one for years, and my mother's tastes are not going to stop me.

My desire to be hardcore..? Haha, no. I have no once ever claimed to be "hardcore" nor do I actually give a damn about the idiotic labels. I wear, piercing and otherwise, what I want. If I wanted to be cool or "hardcore" I'd shoot my entire face so full of metal you'd have trouble discerning me from an actual person rather than a pincushion.
I'm careful when I pierce my ears. I've done five on myself and a few on other people, and none have them been infected. Thanks for the link though.

a... thumbtack? *shudder*

you can buy the hollow needles piercers use for piercing. do not use anything from your house! first of all, you have a higher risk of infection and second of all... your desire to be hardcore equals stupidity. using a proper needle when getting your ears pierced is essential because using anything else can shatter the cartilage and cause problems.

on to your labret. go to a professional piercer. unless you want to become a professional piercer yourself... but even then, i would talk to a pro before you cause yourself unnecessary pain and lesions.

Get it professionally done. The risk of infection is too high, especially somewhere like your labret, when you DIY. Spend the money.

your labret is different. You need to get that done professionally or at least get a hollow needle. the skin needs to be punched out with a hollow needle, or else you will get a pretty bad infection. Good luck!

There's some info on labret piercing.

But you really should get it done by a professional.
There's a lot of dangers with self piercing...and piercing your own lip would be nothing like piercing your own ears.
Guaranteed.
I've had my lip pierced twice, and it's definitely worth just getting it done by a real piercer.

omg! my girlfriend did that and she wound up with a serious infection high fever and the whole nine yards then wound up with no piercing after all that. it's worth it to spend and have a pro do it.
