3 years ago, I had 2 basal cell cancers removed, then I learned about the healing power of the sun by Dr. Liberman. His website states.. "Jacobs Liberman, O.D., Ph.D., challenges the modem myth that the sun is dangerous to our well-being. The sun was once used as a general tonic to heal almost everything and man has run nacked on this planet under the sun for centuries. The sun provides the basis for all life on earth. The sun is the source of energy for all plants, and indirectly, for all animals. If the sun causes cancer, man wouldn't be here today. Contrary to popular belief, sunbathing actually helps heal cancer of the skin while sunblock increases cancer risk."

I have spent all my time in the sun and been avoiding sunblock, like ordered, but since i've had 2 more basal cell cancers removed and have a lesion that looks like melanoma. is it possible that this alternative medicine guru could be wrong? How?

that is insane. when was it used as a cure? when there was a much thicker ozone layer? when people knew nothing about cancer or science and died at 35? if you spend time in the sun you will get wrinkles and melanoma (skin cancer.) no doubt about it. completely, definetly. this person is CRAZY! do not do this.

there are many benefits to the sun for our health and well being. Vitamin E being one I can think of right off the top of my head. Sunlight is very important to the general well being of most human beings. However, that said. There are also disadvantages to the sun. UV rays can cause a menagerie of skin conditions of course the number one being cancer. There has been some debate on the usage of sun screens and them perhaps contributing to skin cancer among others. Here's the thing. You can get all you need from the sun with out spending hours in it a day unprotected. You don't need to use sun screen as long as you are covered with light clothing an umbrella etc etc. There is a middle ground. As far as us not being here today if the sun caused cancer....Not everyone is predisposed genetically and not everyone is in the sun for the same amounts of time. There are lots of variables. Since you have had 2 basal cell cancers removed. What was your Doctors advice? and why did you feel the need for a completely different opinion?
I would suspect that Mr Liberman is partially right. Since he doesn't know your current condition and treatment plan...hes not an expert on you...Only you can do that. Go back to your doc...do some more research. Take care of yourself.

Hey Guts

Your on the right track about the sun. Its been around for millions of years and doesnt cause cancer. What the sun does is bring cancer (an internal toxic blood issue) to the surface to let people know they have a problem. That is a good thing because it show people need to detoxify the body to clear out all the toxics out of the body.

Again you're right on the sunblock issue because those toxic manmade chemicals get into the bloodstream. The sun helps push them there and another reason we are developing skin cancer. More manmade chemicals.

If you really want to take a dive into a new category of how useful the sun is check out this website. You have to have an open mind, but it's an interesting concept.

I have read that you should try to get out in the sun for about 1/2 each day. Sun has healing agents that help other illnesses such as Multiple Sclerosis. Vitamin D is essential for people with MS. Some charts show higher percentages of MS patients live in the northern part of the hemisphere thus, limited sun exposure. Obviously everything is done in moderation. prolonged exposure will cause skin cancer.

While sunlight does have it's good side(vitamin D) There are ultraviolet rays that are bad for you and can cause cancer,I don't think that sunscreen can cause cancer,I think you should use sunscreen. If this "treatment "is causing more cancer then I wouldn't use it. Whenever you use "alternative" treatments you really need to use your common sense. If this guy is going on some medieval belief then bleeding is also a good idea

I know people who have died from malignant melanoma so I avoid the sun and wear sunscreen if I am out for more than a few minutes.

the reason the sun is bad for your skin is because pollution has destroyed the ozone layer that should block out harmful UV rays. full spectrum light is healthy for you but UV rays are harmful to you. that's why tanning beds are bad...because they tan you using UV lamps. there are lights you can buy that are "pure" light.
