With the religious restrictions intact, not very long. I have a low tolerance for their repression and denial.
But the part about living off the land without electricity and other "modern" conveniences is doable and would make a nice week-long -- or season-long retreat.

I love this question but am not able to lightly answer it. I had a stereotypical idea of how the Amish live up until last summer when I saw the documentary video called "Devil's Playground" that followed a group of Amish youth and young adults as they spent a time away from the regular regimen of their Amish community and went wild with "English" rites of passage (smoking, drugs, premarital sex, partying, etc. etc.) before making their final commitment to being baptized into the Amish faith. I recommend this film. I don't think I would last long as a 'modern' Amish parent if I knew my young adult kids were cranked up on crystal meth and I had a commitment to my community just to let them do whatever they needed to do...

Well I wish I had the resources to do so two years ago when an ice storm knocked out my power for a week. If I'd had a fire place or a wood burning stove I'd have managed on my own, good thing for good friends with underground power lines.
We are to dependent on modern "technology"

Maybe a week or two.
I've been to Lancaster County in Pennsylvania and it's really beautiful there.

Maybe I could pull through an hour, but with my mohawked head and .. "new-world" ideas, I don't know if I'd be accepted very well.
