You're going to get a variety of replies on which is a better console. However, I would suggest that because it has a larger number of titles currently available that the 360 is at least a better value at the moment I write this reply. We could argue mercilessly over the quality of each console, but you won't find a definitive answer.

You cannot connect the 360 to your PC to play it, although you can stream media on your PC to your 360 if connected to the same network. You can, however, use a PC monitor as your Xbox 360 display. To do so, you need to purchase Xbox 360 VGA cables from any electronics store that sells 360 accessories. They'll run you about $39.99, and allow you to easily use any PC monitor as an Xbox 360 display.

Currently, the 360 is better than the PS3. The 360 has more and better games and is more affordable.
Furthermore, it integrates extremely well into your home network and your Windows PC. You can watch Videos and pictures from your PC and play MP3 from the PC on the Xbox.

If you have a Windows XP Media Center, then you can also watch TV and all other Media Center stuff on the Xbox.

With Xbox Live you get free game demos, small minigames like Poker, Uno, the classic Doom, several Arcade classics like "Street Fighter 2" or "Mortal Kombat".

And in the US, you can buy/rent TV shows and full movies (some in High Definition quality) to watch.

So all in all, if you want that connection with your Windows PC, get the Xbox. Plug it in and you're ready to go.

If you want an expensive toy and time waster, get the PS3 and Linux on it. Then try to figure out how to connect your PC on that Linux box, configure network stuff and curse everything to hell...

I own both and by far the Xbox 360 is winning because of it's game selection (esp. Gears of War). The PS3 has a little bit of growing up to do. Why would you hook your 360 to a computer though? I had mine hooked up through my router, but that was to access Windows Media Center. Please elaborate.
