The Infinities always have the a/c compressor on to dry air coming into the passenger compartment. The frost is normal.

Frost on the larger of the two pipes that lead to the compressor indicates a malfunction. It is caused by liquid refrigerant entering the suction, or low pressure side, of the system. This could be from a faulty expansion xalve or a faulty capillary tube ,whichever you have. I would stop at an auto air condition shop, not a auto repair, and ask them about it.

This is normal with A/C if you use defrost the A/C comes on to for a brief time then blends to hot air, with this car the a/c runs most of the time anyway it's used to maintain the temp that was selected on the control panel
