It came up about 2 hours ago its really red, hard and swollen. what is this? its hurting really bad could it be something serious? i go to the tanning bed reguraly and it just came up like 5 mins after i got out of the tanning bed or at least thats when i frist noticed it. any ideas on what it is or what i should do?

its a lymph node, you described exactly what happened to me, it will be sore, and after a while it will subside, just take ibuprofen, and try to move gently, if the pain is too bad call the Dr for something stronger, otherwise it will go away in a matter of a couple of days, also check to see if you have any injury in the area that may have caused the lymph node to inflame like it did, sometimes they just do, but often it is due to an injury in the area, hope you get to feeling better, ouch

It's most likely a cyst or a boil... I doubt that it has anything to do with the tanning. Probably just a coincidence.

It sounds as if you have a swollen lymph gland. This is caused by an infection somewhere in your body.

It could be an ingrown hair. How big is big? It could also be a boil (big zit). If it continues to get bigger and or red and painful outside of the knot...See your doctor.
