Yes, argument is a form of communication. It can be healthy, even when it gets very fierce. By fierce I mean that both parties are very strong in their values and beliefs, and are willing to stand up for what they believe. However, that does not mean that arguments that become personal or insulting are healthy -- just the opposite. Yes, you can learn more about each other that way, too, but if argument becomes a constant, it's time to examine whether the relationship can work.

Well, if it is, I don't think it's a very good one; especially on the 'net where its anonymous nature tends to inspire bravado where none genuinely exists. This ceases to be constructive when the objective becomes showing up whomsoever you're arguing with and getting the last word instead of trying to communicate a position with strong reasoning and debate of counter-point to convince the majority taking part in said argument. It can be constructive, but in practical application, it can be self-defeating. Sadly, that's what I see most.

Aruguing can bring couples very close as long as it is constuctive almost like a debate. It can open up many doors in the relationship and give a new understanding about the other pesron. Not everyone can keep it at a cool level if it goes to far or if fellings get hurt it has gone too far.

yep it's a great way to get to know more about each other. My husband and I argue about some of the stupidest stuff and by the end we are both normally arguing the same side just in different words. I actually like arguing with my husband sometimes (when it's not serious), it's fun, a good way to vent, oh and you get to MAKE UP!

Partially agree with you. if a couples argue everyday, then it is a very high possibility that the couples will break off eventually. if the couples have an argument once in a while that is a different case.
