Ok, what happens is, people usually get them when talking, laughing, and eating or drinking with others. Your diaphram gets off kilter, and voila! Hiccups happen. The best tried and true way to get your diapharam back on track, is to let out your breath. Then...take a deep breath, hold it.....for as long as you can. Let it out very.... very.... slowly. Then....take another DEEP breath...SLOWLY. You repeat this, with total concentration, and they will be gone. I have not had the hiccups ( about 15 yrs. now ) since I have been doing this. It takes several min. of this deep SLOW breathing for it to work.

Ordinary hiccups are cured easily with no medical practices needed; in most cases they can be stopped simply by sitting down and concentrating on breathing patterns (deep breaths) for 1-2 minutes. .

However there are a number of anecdotally prescribed methods to treat casual cases of hiccups, these include being startled, drinking water while upside down, eating something very sweet or very tart[http://www.health911.com/remedies/rem_hic.htm, anything that interrupts ones breathing, and a variety of other treatments. Hiccups are treated medically only in severe and persistent (termed "intractable") cases.

being startled work effectively and faster for me.

like accused someone of stealing or cheating and trust me hiccup will go away fast

the only thing that ever really works for me is to ask someone near me to "listen to my hiccups"...seriously for whatever reason having someone else say that they are waiting and listening for my hiccups cures them...and I get hiccups a lot and have tried just about every remedy out there...

you know there really isnt one, but just for fun, this is what you do: rent an airplane and jump out of it, land in a wal mart parking lot, go inside, go in a changin room and wait a few minutes, then yell, "hey there's no toilet paper in here!" one of the workers will come and find you, they will have som magic juice that will help you learn to play guitar, you will start a band with a drummer named andrew, you will become a famous rock star and by then you will have forgotten about your silly hiccup problem.
