Yes I think that the media plays a big part in how young people think about their weight. They see all of the skinny actors and actresses in the things that they watch. They think that they have to look like that to get along in life. I think that they should look good to themselves instead of everyone else.

This is so true, models die all the time because they are at an unhealthy weight. But young girls (mostly) watch them on television and idol them and want to be like them. So yes the media has a big role on how teens view overweight. But then again look at all of the obese children in this world today. or society is really messed up.

YES! like 85 pounds could be overweight to a 12 year old! i mean they all think they are just so fat it is dumb! and yes celebs and the media make younger grls and guys think that being 75 pounds at age 20 is ok and that that is the "right" weight when it is far from! I am sick and tired of ppl in my class saying they are fat when they are so much skinnier than i am!

1 Big Mac please, hold the beef. Diet soda and milk. Salad with light dressing. No apple pie, or we will split one.
Not 1 Big Mac, with extra sauce and cheese. A large soda and a milkshake. Extra large fries with gravy on side. 2 apple pies for dessert.
Go for a walk or bike. Take a dance class. Go to the gym. Canoe, ski, kayak, etc.

hell yes. i have several nuts of siblings who're gonna kill themselves trying to lose weight they do not need to lose. i thought that problem was with commercialized brain dead ppl only, but it turns out over half the world's population think that being over a size 0 is overweight.
won't be surprised when they start dropping dead due to malnutrition.

lot of it does have to do with media and attempting to live up to the standards of fashion magazines that display girls that are size 0.

they have people telling them they are too fat or too skinny. Or, no one tells the fat ones that they are fat, so their feelings aren't hurt. They aren't being told what their healthy weight is supposed to be.
