Deputy Dawg didn't have a sidekick. The other main characters were adversaries--Muskie Muskrat and Vince Van Gopher. Occasionally his human boss, the Sheriff, would make an appearance, as would his nephew ( a mini deputy dawg, but I don't remember his name).

I don't think that Deputy Dawg had a sidekick. Muskie Muskrat and Vince Van Gopher were constantly given him problems, Sheriff was his boss who always checked in on him.
