My friend told me about this experiment. Where they took mice and put some in a very crowded cage. And then put the same amount in a bigger less crowded cage. And he said over time as the populations got bigger. The mice in the smaller cage began to become gay. And the mice in a bigger cage had only a few occurences of gay mice overtime. If this is true tehn mothernature would have a role in gayness. Is this a true story i need proof to beleive such an astonishing project. I dont beleive its true at the moment because if it was then this would change everyone's views on gay's and would most likely be very controversial so i would of heard about it before. Im as desperate to cling to this but need proof that is was a real experiment and if it isn't then am totally going to do it for a science fair haha.

Well i wasn't really looking for justification. I was more interested in the evoulutionary biological aspect of the experiment. And you can relate jails to the mice because jails are prodominitely one sex usually.

The experiment to which you refer is a classic psychological or sociological experiment performed in the 1950s. The experimenter put a small number of mice in a 5 sided box. In the box there was plenty of room, food and space for the number of mice. The mice lived in complete harmony.

The experimenter then slowly added to the population and as the population grew, food, water and space became more and more limited.

As limitations occurred, behaviors of the mice also changed.

Mice actually formed gangs that attacked other groups of mice. Some mice withdrew and stayed in the corners or protected areas fo the cube. Some mice became sickly. Some mice began to show what some might call homosexual tendencies.

However, biologists have identified what many call homosexual behavior in animals acts of dominance establishing a behavior hierarchy (the 'alpha' member).

Basically, their social structure began to mimic that of humans who live in high density housing.

I wish I could tell you the name of the researcher, but I no longer remember.

I have never heard of anything close to that. but if you're looking for some justification for gayness/homosexuality, you really don't need to look to mice...

ps: didn't know Bright Eyes was a gay mice fan on yahoo answers

I believe it. The same thing goes on in our jails, right?
