The federal government is closed exept for essential personell.

NYSE and NASDAQ are closed, but the bonds markets are open.

States decide on an individual basis on whether they would shutdown the government.

retailers should be open.

In Michigan, ALL post offices will be closed. Various other governmental offices will also be closed. On Wednesday, a lot of local Grand Rapids governmental offices will also be closed due to his funeral being there that day. Always call ahead if you need to visit a particular office or store.

Yes, all Government offices/buildings will be closed. That includes post offices.

some banks were open but there was no mail service & no stock market trading
