of course we conqured them. we sent troops in and ousted the old rulers and put in one of our own. that is the very defenition on the word conquer.

I do not think we own them, we have troops there. But we also have troops in Japan and Germany, and they are not "ours"!

Expansionism (adding other states or areas to your country from somewhere else) as its known has been frowned upon by most of the western countries since the early 1900's. We actually have treaties with other nations saying we will not own any other countries or colonize them. As for the US virgin Islands or other "controlled" countries. Usually we have a pact with them that runs out at a certain time that there government can renew every so many years. this protects them because a war with them will be equal to a war with one of our states. and it gives us more bases around the world. (Point2) We did win the war in Iraq now we are fighting an insurgency. I wish I had more time to explain the difference.

No we don't own them we will pay a lot to put them back together but we don't own them and never will.When the next presidential election comes and is over all the people we have lost will be for nothing the next president will probably pull the us out like they did us in Vietnam It want be the thing to do but who am I just one person.I fought in Vietnam lost a lot of myself and a lot of friends for what for a bunch of Chicken S#it politicians that said they have been in a war but they lie.It want be the thing we as Americans need to do, we need to finish this.Then after it is all over we all can go over and play in the sand.
