I can relate to your question because I also have a very strong conscience.
I think it's because of my dear, departed father. He was the most honest person I ever met - he did not have a hypocritical bone in his body and I believe he told the truth 99.99% of the time. He did have a strong moral value system.
Every action I take, I believe has a moral component to it and I do believe because of my father, I have to think about the effects of my behavior and speech on others. Since, I am far from a perfect person, I have a lot of self criticism and discussion with my conscience.
So, I think, you don't have to consider what your friends are doing, just be who you are - continue to let your conscience be your guide - there is no better guide.

A person that suffers from a guilty conscience has strong moral values and "draws lines" to what they can do and can't do. They tend to try to do the right thing always. The people without strong consciences suffer from a lack of a good thought process. They are easily drawn to do things and they don't always consider whether it is right or wrong.
Some people have a greater guilty conscience than others because something or someone molded their character to the good person they are now.

It all has to do with the way that person was raised. Me for instance, am just like you! Most of my friends have no guilty conscience its almost scary! They basically have no remorse for the stupid things they do and never admit to the wrong things they do. Sociocultural factors also have a lot to do with the way people are these days. We live in a world thats a lot more open. Why do u think so many people are coming out of the closet now?? lol A lot more things are acceptable these days. We are basically living in a less conservative world. Hope that answers ur question!

A lot of bad answers here that miss the point by miles! We are all variants. Are you and your friends the same height? Does you environment match theirs exactly? All human behavior is under a normally distributed continuum of behavior. You conscience may just be closer to the mean of consciences behavior than your friends. Many factors bear on this and they all vary in a relative way. This is how the real world is; it is not a social science construct.

I think it all depends on how you are raised by your parents. My parents taught me right from wrong all my life. I have a guilty conscience about anything that I try to entail and know it is wrong. I think others just don't care because they were never taught better.

possibly because your friends just do whatever it is more and they are just used to whatever makes you feel is wrong if you grew up, killing a man everyday killing would just be another part of your routine every day and the person who has never killed before and values life very much wil feel mortified by killing another person so it is like lieing, the more you do it, the less you will think about it and then it will make no difference to tell the truth or not

Some of us were taught to believe that wrong is wrong and some were NOT taught anything, so they believe it's only wrong if you get caught. Be grateful you have a conscience and feel sorry that they may never learn...

That means you are actually more in touch with Super Soul, or God in your heart. That means you are more conscious. You probably have been in the material world many more lifetimes than others who are less conscious. Our soul is just evolving (not Darwin's Theory He thought the bodies where evolving- Not) When one becomes fully conscious they hear God speaking to them in all situations. Like all the great saints. The quickest and easiest way to become fully conscious is to Chant the Maha Mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from suffering and illusion) go to krishnaculture. for details. read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada to understand Conscience fully.
