I spent my day with my oldest granddaughter, Meg. She turned 11 years old yesterday. Today we went and bought her a new outfit, new shoes and some "real" panty hose. She is getting her hair done tomorrow and is going to have her picture taken. Then we went out to lunch, came home and watched tv for a while. Then I took her to Petland and we spent an hour looking at the puppies, rabbits, mice and birds. She told her mom that she is really happy......which makes me very happy. A great way to start the New Year! What did you do?

Given that this is MY FIRST New Year's Day as an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree (FINALLY, the Long Term Single Parent has her two disabled children living independently) .. so I spent the day filled with QUIET, PEACE, and the real beauty of the day was because this is the FIRST TIME I was ABLE to ENJOY MY HOME by MY SELF!

My kids and I slept in this morning. We played some new games they got for Christmas and read some new books. We went from a family of five to a family of four recently and they are adjusting to life without daddy in the house. But I think they enjoyed spending the day with mommy.

I just cleaned my house and did some laundry. I figured having a clean and organized start would be a good start to the new year. I also went out and purchased a new day planner and a calendar.

Got over last nights hangover, made all the passed out people on my floor leave, then cleaned the house from the party before my mom came home.

It was special alright.

Spent most of the day with in-laws and out-laws, sons, daughters-in-law, brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, grandson and a huge table of food! So much for my diet resolution! I think it lasted about 12 hours!
