If you don't pay any taxes, or you're behind on your bills all the time or living off the system, shouldn't we be letting more responsible citizens make these kinds of decisions?

Just because someone is poor shouldn't mean they can't vote. That's just ridiculous. There are many poorer areas across the United States just because someone is not fortunate enough to have everything you may have they have rights the same as you and I.

Who says that poor people are paying taxes, have you ever heard of the working poor? And what the h*ll does being behind on your bills have to do with anything, most people have falling on hard times at one point or the other. Just because a person doesn't make a lot of money doesn't mean that they should be stripped of their right to vote. This is America and every US citizen should have a voice. My husband and I are a upper middle class couple but we have had some rough times in the beginning of our marriage.

The beauty of living in America is that everyone can vote that is a citizen at least 18 years of age, except for felons.

You don't have to know the issues or what the candidates stand for. Unfortunately, the people you describe often only believe the stereotype that Democrats are for the poor & downtrodden and the Republicans are for the rich, ignoring the fact that Democrats try to make people MORE dependent on government rather than make them better people.

Let us all be thankful that we live in a country that has such freedoms whether me make good choices or not.

God bless America and its Allies against terror!

If they didn't let people who get behind on their bills vote, no one would be elligible. It's a constitutional right for any and all citizens to vote. Mess with that and you might as well throw the whole system out the window, we are a democratic country after all, althought sometimes it is hard to see through all the smoke and mirrors.

They pay more than the rich, and it is usually with their lives!

And welfare bums are all those new 500 millionaires who made their money off of the deaths of our servicemen: 1 for every 25!

Most on the other assistance are the elderly, children and the totally disabled!

It used to be in this country only property owners could vote, but then, a lot didn't cost 1/2 million!

You really have a 2 digit IQ!

Just because people have money troubles, does that make them irresponsible? No!

There are many reasons why someone would become poor;they are born poor and can't overcome the obstacles laid out before them because of that, medical problems, getting laid off, it goes on and on.

As to your ludicrous statement that poor people shouldn't be able to vote, I guess you don't believe in Democracy. In case you forgot, that is when every single person, regardless of circumstances, such as wealth, can vote.

And on a side note on your supposed Welfare bums. The majority of people that go on Welfare only do it for a year or less. It seems to me that would not classify them as Welfare bums.

Why don't you look into what you talking about before you go spewing these hurtful comments.

Ever since the Democratic Party abandoned the working and lower class to focus solely on the middle class, the "poor people and welfare bums" haven't really been voting anyway. It's sad, but true. Our "democracy" is ill.

I am poor! I have a full-time job and a degree, but earn less than 14,000.00 per year. This is all I can do right now. I pay taxes and have for many years. I do not take any sort of "welfare" at the present time. I am extremely intelligent, and well-informed. And I resent the hell out of your bigoted, elitist question! It doesn't even deserve a serious answer.

We do not allow taxation without representation, why should we allow representation without taxation?

Sounds like a double standard to me!

And besides if you are a dead democrat you get to vote even after death. Maybe that's why they support the death tax!

And by the way if you earn $14,000 a year you do not pay any income taxes.. You get it all back and probably more than you paid.

Sounds like a ploy to undermine a sect of the Democratic voting block--hasn't happened yet, but there are similar tactics to deny the voting rights that have been implemented or used.

Is it ironic or just a coincidence that most of the Voting improprieties are solely the acts of the Republican Party?
