how are ambiguity and assumption alike?

They both have the letters a,i,u and t in them.
Ambiguity is indecisiveness while assumption is making a decision based on what seems apparent which may be the case but not necessarily.

i don't think they have anything to do with each other. Ambiguity is
Doubtfulness or uncertainty as regards interpretation: “leading a life of alleged moral ambiguity” (Anatole Broyard).
Something of doubtful meaning: a poem full of ambiguities. (Answers.com).

Assumption is what you consider as given. "The act of taking for granted: assumption of a false theory."
"Something taken for granted or accepted as true without proof; a supposition: a valid assumption."

There were more difinitions but these two are most closely related, and I still think they are far from similar. I guess if something was ambiguous, you might be more likely to make an incorrect assumption as to the speaker's meaning, but I wouldn't consider them similar in general.
