had congress been able to investigate Nixon for his crimes, and Bush Sr. and Kissenger and all the other scumbags, wouldn't we know by now who killed Kennedy, and not be going thru the same thing all over again with Bush sneaking around spying on Americans?

Bush is sneaking around spying on people? I thought he was at Ford's memorial today. Wow, he sure is busy. You people blame him for Iraq invading Kuwait, the Tsunami, Hurricane Katrina, Jen and Vince splitting up, the Tigers losing the world series. Now he is an active spy? Wow! I doubt Nixon had anything to do with the Kennedy assassination. What was there to gain? I remember the Nixon years, that bunch could not organize a house of prostitution on a troop ship. Not to mention an assassination.

Well the facts are that by pardoning politicians when they violate their oath of office, they have no fear of wrongdoing. Nixon was the worst constitutional criminal in history, and the ONLY reason he pardoned Nixon was because they already had a deal which Alexander Haig admits he brought to Ford before Nixon resigned, Nixon was not going to resign without a guarantee of pardon and Ford would have been abandoned by the party if he didn't follow through. Haig even convinced Nixon not to apologise to the country because Ford was going to pardon him no matter what he admitted to, those are the facts.

First of all NO and NO. We investigated Nixons crimes ad nauseum. The sucka would not admit he lied to us and so had to go. We already know who killed Kennedy and why and it has nothing to do with Bush spying on Americans

I would guess most people on here aren't old enough to know what you are saying, I am. I do not subscribe to the theory it was proper for the pardon to heal America. I think that lying sack of **** should have been hung, that would have healed America sooner and better. We'll probably never know who was really behind the Kennedy assassination but one thing is for certain, the republican party is neither moral or ethical. How can they be when we get Presidents like Nixon and Bush from them? Two losers and two of the worst Presidents this country has ever had. What a bunch of morons.

I don't think the Kennedy assassination had anything to do with the Watergate situation. And it's hard to know what the immediate result would have been with the people you mention.

But, remembering the tenor of those days, had Ford continued as he started and had not pardoned Nixon, he would probably have defeated Carter. Had that occurred, Ronald Reagan would not have become President, since his election was as much a vote against Carter as it was for him.

And THAT would certainly have given us a very different history in the '80's, wouldn't it?

I don't see how Nixon being put on trial for his crimes would have effected future presidents at all. What that has to do with Kennedy being killed, I have no idea, and why would Bush not being doing what he is doing just because Nixon payed for his crimes?

We already know who killed Kennedy...his name was Lee Harvey Oswald.
Gerry Ford also sacrificed his own political dreams by pardoning Nixon. His pardoning of Nixon was the main reason he was not re-elected in 1976. But it was the right thing to do in order to get us past such a scandalous time in our history. Such personal sacrifice should be admired and not used to spread ridiculous conspiracy theories.

I don't see any relationship between the act of a nut, Oswald, and Nixon. I would like to have seen Kissenger get it, however. I hate to see his smug face, knowing he is responsible for the Khymer Rouge take over by expanding the war into Cambodia.

No.

I think Ford did what he thought was best for the country. As much as many of us would like to have seen Nixon punished.

Perhaps, but if Ford didn't pardon Nixon he would have actually been an elected president, not an upgraded vice-president. He was never elected and he screwed the American people in finding out the truth about the Republicans and Richard Nixon! On top of that we had to pay the crook for the rest of his life, build him a library and provide him with office expenses and FBI protection!
