if you are on birth control just skip the last 7 sugar pills in a 28 pack and start a new pack right away or if on the 21 pack keep taking pills in a new pack and you should skip a period for that month.
I did this when I was getting married and didn't want to be on my period for my honey moon!!
doctor said it was safe to do!

I can't think of any way to avoid your period altogether (unless you are on birth control in that case just skip the pills you take when you have you're period since they are just placebos and take the next active dose) but you can try a product called Instead which can keep your period from flowing. (Not going into to much detail here, check the drug store)

Talk to your doc. So what's the big deal about getting your period. Make sure you use some heavy duty tampons, panty liners and bring extra underwear. You can do everything you normally would if you are careful and change tampons often. You can swim, but change your tampon as soon as you get out of the water. Don't go in the water if there are sharks out a ways because the smell attracts the sharks. Sex, well that's up to you and your partner.

I understand there are things an ob/gyn might do to alter your normal menses cycle. It's probably a bad idea to disrupt your bodies systems to avoid the inconvenience of having your period while on traveling. It might be better to find ways of lessening any expected pain or discomfort. If you have extreme pain or discomfort with your periods, you should discuss this with your physician.

If you're on the pill you can change it around a bit by stopping it a couple of weeks before your trip to bring it on sooner, then getting back on it after your period ends. Just make sure you use back-up birth control while you're doing that.

Alot of forms of contraception like the pill can allow you to skip your periods. Just go see you doctor or family planning clinic and they should be able to discuss the best option for you.

are you on birth control? if so, you can just skip the week of sugar pills and just go right on to the next pack of regular pills. its perfectly healthy, doctors will tell you that. if you are unsure, go to www.fewerperiods.com.
if you aren't on BC, there is no way to avoid a period besides getting on it. i would recommend it tho, why not?
WHY DID THIS ANSWER GET 2 THUMBS DOWN??? I don't understand you people.

Don't "avoid" it.
If the female was supposed to get period 3 times a year as apposed to 12, God would have made it so.
Just use tampons, bring Advil, and you'll be fine.
