There is an abundance of Jewish symbols around the airports , but I dont see any christians one, except the christmas trees and they are not symbolic of christians. I dont understand the fuss over the nativity scene or crosses , ehen menorahs are displayed at views! In justice if religion is to be represented then all branches of religion must be represented. The symbols of kwanssa , crhistian, Jewish, Muslim, and even the chinese Buddah, or none at all. In fairnes I dont think it can be done, there fore religious symbols dont belong in public places. Amen. What says you?

There is nothing offensive about displaying religious symbols on public spaces during the holiday season. Displaying a religious symbol on public property does not mean the government is endorsing a particular religion.

Think about it. On March 17, a parade celebrating St. Patricks Day can close down 5th Ave in NYC yet most people in NYC arent Irish. There is barely a word of protest. So whats the difference between that and putting up a Christmas tree at Christmas time?

None.

HOnestly, you are a hell of a lot more observant than myself. I really don't notice or care too much what or why things are being displayed at any given airport. I have my beliefs and that's that. However I agree with you that I don't understand the fuss either. I Very much believe in Jesus Christ and consider myself Christian, but I think those Nativity scenes are a complete eyesore - they are so freakin ugly. (No disrespect!)

It is my understanding that the US Supreme Court ruled IN FAVOR of the city of Pawtucket RI in 1984 (Donelly v. Lynch) allowing Pawtucket to display a nativity scene. Sadly, though it may be legal to display a nativity scene, ppl are so afraid of complaints that they won't do it.

good point. You know what would be nice, is to see flags with photos. (like one with a menorah, one with Mary holding Jesus, etc....) My airport is O'Hara and they have flags of the country's hanging (at least they did last time I was there)

I too agree though- do everyone, or none at all.

It bugs me to no end. I am a huge scrooge and I feel uncomfortable with the decorations in public places except for stores which are selling the products. Especially gov't ones, think it's highly inappropriate.

I don't believe the ban refers to an airport, which is privately owned. The ban refers to public buildings, etc.

However, as far as banning them from all public buildings, etc., yes I agree with you. All or nothing.

If you really want to make a stink about this, contact the Port Authority (owners of JFK)
