So shouldn't the term "Africa-American" be changed? Because I am positive that not all "Black" people really have ancestors from Africa. I mean, EVERYONE is from Africa (the beginning of time), but ti is rather stupid to base JUST THAT ALONE on everyone is Black. if that is the case, how come everyone else is not considered "African-American"?

i agree. the term should be changed. i guess it's just due to our pigmented skin to say that you're from afica. I don't really consider myself african american. I'm american. I was born here. african american to me are those that are born in africa and came over to america.

Its funny people get offended by the term african american. At least your have a label. Every time i take a test everytime i take a survey im considered OTHER id rather be african american then be a OTHER. Its not fair to say all black people are from africa because your right alot of people and not just black people believe it or not have indian further down the blood line. Thats why black people take the shades of so many different colors. Caramel, Mocha, Mahogany(yellow, red, brown, and black) I feel what your saying and their are a such thing as white africans. Their just terms. at least your not a OTHER.

No, everybody did not originate from Africa. There were many different species of early man all over the world.

And all black people do have African ancestors. All black people that came to America came either as slaves, indentured servants, or free men.

It's just a term Jesse Jackson came up with I don't even like being called "African-American" since I'm not even from Africa.

Since the first time I heard that I didn't like it, for exactly the same reason you stated. There are a lot of black people I personally know who won't use the term.

I use the term black, even though it doesn't really come up that often. I don't mind if someone calls me white...It's just words.
