i took my period last night at a party and i never noticed ....when i got home i fell asleep :O how do i tell my mum i have started ???

When I got mine I just called my mom after I got home from school and was like I think I got my period today Mom
And she was like okay your sister has some pads

You can tell her just that really. It shouldn't be an issue. She's a woman too, and since she's your mom you should be (mildly) comfortable telling her these things. Remeber she went through it too.
