Sophia, what a very difficult question.

My answer? Absolutely...I am a mother of four, grandmother of three....and yes, I would trade my life for a child to live.....

oo very deep question...i believe it is the most insightful i have read all day
well im not too sure about that but no matter what happens i am going to adopt a little girl and give her everything she needs and more and raise her to be a freethinking strong woman...i think by living i can benefit a child's life more than by trading my life

If I was to answer you question directly, the answer would be no.

Now, since your question is a hypothetical one. I'm thinking hypothetically when I write this...If I knew that this child would do something great for humanity; Like cure AIDS or lead the nations to world peace or something to that effect...it would become a totally different question. In that case, I'd like to think I would trade my life for theirs. The reason I write "think" is because no one really knows what they would do in a situation until their in it.

If I didn't have children, I'd say yes -- without question. Since I'm a parent now, I couldn't do that. While I would be saving another child's life, I would be destroying the lives of my own children in doing so.

No, unless they are my own or closely related to me.

Otherwise, how do I know who I'd be saving? What if they grow up to be the most terrible person ever lived? I'm responsible for my own actions to be a decent human being. I don't see how necessarily someone else's life is more valuable than my own.

I really hope I'm never put in the position to face this choice.

Why would a child want MY life?

That's a hard question, and many things need to be taken into consideration.

Is this child a part of your family? Is it your unborn child? Etc.

Depends on the circumstances and the child. I'd have to ask God to send me a sign. Not til after september when I have my baby though

If it was my child or grand child, yes in a heart beat.
If it was a child I didn't know - I have to be honest and say -I don't know, but I don't think so, as my children and grand kids need and want me around for them.

If I were related to it yes. But for someone I don't know I am not sure it depends on the situation. That would be a split second thing discession.
