Another place that asked this question got the answer that he is taking some time off for a few episodes to do a play. No link for further info, though. Hope that is truly the case -- will miss him!!

I sincerely hope not - just went to CBS.com to try and find a answer, and watched the preview again - it sure sounds like he is leaving, and if that is the case many many CSI viewers will be UPSET - Myself included. HE is CSI - Period. No offense with the other players, put he makes the show, with his intelligance, dry humor, and style. Like I mentioned, the rest of the cast is good too, but CSI would not be the same with out Gil Grissom, played by William Peterson

I dont think so. The guy that plays Grissom I think is taking a break from the show.
