They're everywherer. Hell if it comes right down to it it's not that hard to write some yourself. Forced participitation in Highschool is the only training I've had and I'm not half bad at it.

As other people have said, nearly everyone does or can write poetry. If something you write ends up meaning something special to you, YOU are your own poet.
If, however, you are looking for a published or at least well-experienced poet, start at your local bookstore. If you live in a town of any size, they will have book signings and readings by published poets, some quite well known. Even in small towns, the bookstore staff (especially independent bookstores) will be pretty knowledgable and have other local suggestions. Maybe there are open poetry readings at the local college or coffeehouse. The poets might not be published, but you could talk to them about poetry and learn a little something!
Good for you for your interest in poetry! We poets generally feel like a neglected lot ...

It all depends on why you are trying to find one. If you have an idea and would like it someone to write a poem for you then you can just ask around. There are plenty of poets on this site. How ever if you are just trying to find a poem for a specific reason Poetry.com is a collection of poems from different amateur writers across the world

There are many people here that do so. Writing "poetry" or writing "poems" is the same exact thing.

Are you looking for people in your area? Check local colleges and universities for groups or check local libraries and newspapers.
Spoon River Creative Writers at http://srcw.us is a group in Illinois that lists a couple of other groups in Illinois and Iowa. (Also list valueable links for writers.)
Also try So You Think You Can Write? at http://srcw.us/sythome for writing help.
Maybe you can start a group in your area by meeting at a library and advertising for members in local newspapers. These things are free in most communities. Right now, interest in the arts is high.

I recommend the Directory of Writers at www.pw.org. The following information is reproduced directly from the website:
"Poets & Writers, Inc. is the primary source of information, support, and guidance for creative writers. Founded in 1970, it is the nation's largest nonprofit literary organization serving poets, fiction writers, and creative nonfiction writers."
