I just asked a little bit ago about my mucus plug. I lost big chunks of what was obviously really thick mucus. And am continuing to.

I see my midwife tomorrow, and have her number all set to dial... i just dont want to freak out (i JUST got back from the maternity ward for a NST due to what the nurse thought was high BP, turns out all is fine) It just seems it'd be waaaay too ironic to be in labor tonight.

Anyway, Ive been having really strong contractions, theyre not close together or anything, but they actually hurt. I dont know, i cant discribe it. Ive had a TON of braxon hicks, where your stomach and lower back, and pelvis area get ROCK HARD for about 90 seconds or so, but no pain. Iam still getting those, only waaay more (still not five minutes apart of anything), except now I have pain inbetween those contractions... almost like a contraction? GAH i cant explain it.

I was checked on friday, iam 37 weeks, half way effaced (as of friday), baby is dropped and fully engaged.

Question being... Am i getting any closer to getting this kid out of me? lol. I know its probably going to chill out for a while until labor actually kicks in... but this IS progress right?

Yes, this is progress but don't panic...you will know. BH contractions subside when lying down/resting. True contractions do not. All of this is painful (but not with out purpose). Try thinking of it as practice :)
I am so happy for you. There is something so wonderful that happens during childbirth. At some point either during the pushing or the first time you see your new baby that time stands still and you lose yourself. You realize everything you ever believed about love is underestimated. In a split second it is all about you and your baby and he or she changes your world forever.

You are VERY close. Braxton Hicks do get stronger later in pregnancy. The way to tell if it is real labor is to time them. If they are regular intervals apart head to L and D. Stay hydrated, dont eat anything heavy. With my last child I had a Dr appt at 1 pm told him I was in labor and he dismissed me and told me he would see me next week. I lost my plug around 3, my water broke at 2 am I went to L and D at 7 am and delivered 12 hours later. You know your body and what you feel. Go with your gut. The contractions could be even 20 min aprt, and drop to 5. If your 5 centimeters they should not have sent you home. Watch for spotting too but again stay hydrated, keep your feet up, and dont eat anything heavy. Good Luck!

It could still be weeks.

Just chill out. You will know when you are in labour, and even then you shouldn't call your midwife until your contractions are 7 mintues apart and she probably won't come to your house until they are 5 or less.

Honey, I think you are in labor. I would give your mid-wife a quick call to keep her abreast of the situation and let her tell you what your game plan should be.

That baby is coming though, Good luck!!!!!
