In the US you cannot enter in legal contracts until you are 18, even if you are emancipated or dropped out of school. Therefore you cannot get a business license, an IRS business tax account, or enter into commercial agreements with licensed vendors for your supplies and services. Now if you are starting a baby-sitting business or lawnmowing/landscaping service as a part-time venture you do not need these necessities, but FULL-time businesses do. Unless you have a partner over the age of 18 that can sign for your company (meaning you) until you reach legal age and he/she must be written into your business presentation/plan as a partner.

I guess it depends where you live and what kind of business it is. I would suggest you talk to someone in your local Chamber of Commerce or City Hall to see what local policy is. Lots of kids younger than 16 have businesses.... the illegality comes in when someone else is employing them and contravening labor laws around how many hours they can work in a week, etc.

Not illegal, but since he is a minor, he cannot enter into some of the necessary contracts for the business to be successful. He will have to have an adult partner to accept those responsibilities.

You don't way where you're from, so I'll use generic American rules.
No. It would be illegal for you to sign the legal docs, to enter into contracts, etc. However, if you have a parent, etc to sign your docs, then you can certainly open a business.

It is not illegal, but a contract with a 16 year old is not enforceable, thus limiting your business options.

I don't think there is an age limit on opening a businesses but if you need financial assistance, you will probably run into problems because of your age.

YOur parents have to help you with licensing and any contracts you need to sign, but there is no law preventing you opening a business.

you can start a business if you want to,,, a great one is like AVON or Mark line,,, if you make under a amount you don't have to report it for taxes at the end of the year,, But if making over the limit you will need a adult over 18 to help you with that part..
