take battery leads off first, then undo wires on starter, undo nuts n bolts that hold it to bell housing, pull it out, put new one in and reverse process, making sure you remembered where the wires go.

If you know where the starter is, then:
1st. Disconnect the positive side of the battery. Then disconnect the wire on the starter if you can. If not see no. 4.
2nd. There are 2-3 bolts holding it on. You may need a special wrench for one of the bolts. You can rent one from Auto Zone or someplace similar.
3rd. You may need to give the starter a hard shove to get it to break loose from all the dirt and grime.
4th. Remove the wire from the starter if you couldn't get it off in step no. 1.
5th OK you have it out. Take it with you to the parts store. They should give you an allowance for it. Usually $5 or so. Get it home, and reverse the procedure.

Should be a fairly easy operation. You will need to jack the car up so you can get under the engine. Be sure to block up the car as you never want to rely on a jack for safety. Look for the starter while you roll under with a creeper. There will be probably 3-4 bolts holding it on. Take it to your local Napa or Autozone, whatever and get a new unit.
Good Luck

Ok, the starter is located on the back of engine, has two bolts holding it on., the front of the starter mounts so that the bendix gear turns the flywheel. diconnect the wiring(thick cable from the battery, and smaller wire atttached to bendix.) then take out the two long bolts holding it in place and install new one..only in reverse

Are you SURE the starter is defective and it's not a battery or electrical problem.?? See alot of them get changed and don't solve the problem.
