In general I would say either folk or pop. He's a singer-songwriter in the vein of like James Taylor. Plus, it depends on which song you're talking about. Wild World is different from his cover of Another Saturday Night.

Back in the day he was called a singer-songwriter, with his songs being mostly folky/acoustic.Lyrically, he was a little bit spaced out, similar to Donovan.

It was a feel good blue grass, folk music kind of deal.

But these day's he's had to postpone any US gigs.. ha ha
