Even if it's only a fishtank, it would be more enjoyable for you to have a pet that you can see and have around more often than something that lives in the garage. Keeping a mouse outside isn't a good idea. Domestic mice have been kept indoors for many generations and aren't as adaptable to the cold as a wild mouse.
Ask your parents what their objections are to the mouse. Some people are just plain afraid of mice, but aren't scared of hamsters or gerbils. Your parents might be concerned that the mouse could escape into the house and that's a valid concern. You might be able to take them to a pet shop and show them some cages that would be secure enough to make them OK with having a mouse. Or your parent's may have gotten a whiff of mice in the pet store and object to their charicteristic smell--and yes, they do reek if they aren't cleaned up after regularly. Ask your parents if there is any other kind of pet that they would let you have.
If you talk with your parents and show a willingness to work with them they might suprise you and let you have something really neat, even if it's not a mouse. Many people are fine with fish, an african clawed frog, hermit crabs, etc.

If you have to get a pet that will stay out side get a dog or something NOT A MOUSE. That's almost torture to have your mouse CAGED UP outside. It does not depend on the weather. Pet mice belong in a house. Wild belong outside. simple as that. Do u know how many things eat mice. Birds,Owls,Lizards,Snakes etc* by putting a mouse outside your basically calling out to all those animals "heres lunch" I strongly advise you not to get a pet mouse and keep it outside.
Thank you.

As long as you put it in a place that is around room temperature. If you have a shed or barn I'd put it in there, but mice are usually inside pets.

probably depends on where you live. Too cold and it will freeze, too hot and it will cook. Warm enough for reptile activity and a snake can get in and eat it (trust me, any little gap if it means an easy meal) cats can maybe bust into the cage depending on how it's made, etc., etc. Plus, mice and rats carry the plague and shouldn't be kept as pets anyway.

Gee did you see that coming??? Where do you live, if it stays warm all year around maybe. Think about another house friendly pet to get, do not even think about asking about a snake.

probably not, it depends, but i think if you have a small animal as a pet, it should live in a cage, or inside
