What I mean is, when does loyalty get tossed aside for a feeling of guilt? Does feeling bad for someone change your sense of loyalty to ethics?

i'm going to be honest here and probably like an idiot, but i'm not sure what you mean. i'm not trying to be insulting--i always love your questions--so if you see this, maybe add a comment.

**Edit: Gotcha

i guess when i agree to become someone's friend it is for the person they are. although i may not ethically agree with something they have done, my loyalty to the friendship comes first--it is not my place to judge them. i would imagine at such a particular time they would need a friend more than ever.

For the life of me, I try to be fair as much as I can. I have seen what blind loyalty does, all my life, so I draw the line. I am loyal but only if he or she doesn't use my loyalty to harm those who are weaker and innocent.
It's very hard to do that, but at least I do have loyalty, and won't act like some cowards who will stab you in the back.

sometimes our loyalty to someone can lead us to offer sympathy when a complete stranger might get disdain. ultimatelly, what the object of your loyalty did to engender that loyalty must make you give them the benefit of the doubt. the past experiences with the person should help you evaluate whatever the present situation may be.

No not really. If I am loyal to one person I am forever loyal. I can't change mid stream.
