i was on youtube and i saw a legos movie someone made how do you do that

well a legos movie is basically made the same way as a clay characters are moved. I'm not sure if you are famililar with gumby but the idea behind it is to move the character one peice at a time, and then take a shot (frame) with the camera. usually 1 second equals to 25 frames so you can imagine it is pretty time consuming.
So in this lego movie if a character walks from one side of the screen to the other the creater would move him bit by bit then frame it each move, putting each picture together at the end to make a moving picture

it is know as still shot filming, and takes awhile to make. you put legos or whatever your using in a single position, take one shot of that position, and change the position just a little bit. An example would be someone waving there hand, it would start on one side and each shot would be a small change in the movement of the arm.
