Raloh has the best answer. I have a cedar closet that I think stinks and I've put baking soda (the kind with the sides that open) on every shelf. That seems to work

It will take a little time to air out but it will. Bed & Bath stores sell cedar blocks that have lavender oils in them as well. They smell really good and it's a double whammy against closet pests in the future. Lavender and cedar both repel bugs (especially moths) and they smell nice!

Sometimes new items have an odor about them, it is the chemicals that were used to manufacture it. If it isn't impossible, you could set it outside (as long as it isn't raining) and not in direct sun, this could warp it. Need to let it air out. If this isn't possible, place shallow dishes of vinegar, or charcoal to absorb the odor. Leave the closet door open to so as not to keep the odors trapped inside.

Use one of those new arm and hammer deodorizing packs they advertise for your fridge. Or just set a bowl of baking soda on the top shelf for a few days. Cedar chips will keep it smelling nice after the odor is gone. Good Luck!!

Sit a bowl of charcoal(plain) in the bottom and close the door.Leave it there for a while. If that doesn't do the trick spray with water and white vinegar and turn on a fan til dry----that will do it.

I imagine it's just a matter of time before the "new smell" wears off--just like a new car.
