2 planes leave Regin at 10am, one flying west and the other eats. The eastbound plane flies 120km/h faster than the wesbound plane. In 1 1/2 hours that are 1740km apart. Find the speed of each plane.

(x*1.5)+(x+120)*1.5=1740
x=520
westbound plane travels at 520 km/h
eastbound plave travels at 640km/h

First you set some variables:

x: the speed of the westward plane
y: the speed of the eastward plane

Speed is expressed as distance-traveled-per-hour. If you multiply speed times the number of hours, you know how far somebody has traveled.

So the westward plane goes a distance of (x* 1.5)
And the eastward plane goes a distance of (y* 1.5)
