The actor was Bill Nighy, but he didn't just provide voice work. The filmmakers used a performance-capture program, so his "acting" is there, only he has been re-animated into Jones. He does an extremely good job (as did the animators, since there were times watching the movie that I thought it couldn't possibly be CGI even though I knew it was). He was also in Love Actually as the old rock star who sings "Christmas Is All Around" (think that was the title)
