Hit the space bar 2 times.
To have your lines double spaced, you have to set that under "Format" > "Paragraph"
If you've already typed your text, you have to highlight it all first, by clicking and dragging over the entire text, or by pressing "Control"+"A" (for All)

In Microsoft Word, you double space by pressing "control+a", that selects the entire document, so whatever changes you make now will be applied to the entire document.
From there, go to "format", "paragraph", and under "line spacing", select "double"
Now your entire document should be double-spaced.
If you only want to double space part of your document, just don't select everything at the beginning.

In wordpad you will have to manually double space the document. Write your document first, then go to the beginning of each line after the first line (starting on the second line) and hit enter, this will double space the document.
