also look at http://www.thinktwice.com/ and http://www.vaccinetruth.com/
My son isn't vaccinated due to my husband and I's concerns and his pediatrician-he recommended that we don't because of the link to autism in my family. My son's cousin is autistic, was a great baby until he had his 12 month shots. Now he just screams all day (he's 3) and can't even say words. No vaccine is 100% effective, I don't want to inject preservatives and mercury into my son, and I haven't had my boosters and I'm fine. Ask yourself if you are so hardcore on vaccinations-have I had all of my shots and boosters? Most people don't yet they get their kid every shot. We live in a place where great nutrition and sanitation is available. Don't look at the statistics of kids dying of measles in Africa, well cause we drink great water and get to eat. Vaccines have been linked to SIDS, cancer, diabetes, and autism. I'd rather my son get a little rash than have any of those.
Everyone throws that "I don't want my kid to die of polio", polio wasn't erradicated by the vaccine but by proper nutrition. My grandfather survived the polio epidimic and thanks me for not vaccinating my son after seeing his other grandson suffer. Also, the latest cases of polio in the u.s.a. were caused by the vaccine itself!
loving the edit button:with the mumps outbreak, even latest measles outbreak VACCINATED people caught it and spread it too, that's why no vaccine is 100% effective. Yes, people die from such things if they're immune compromised, most of us are perfectly healthy. My own mother survived measles, mumps, and rubella-she's sitting near me healthy as a horse, she said the only complication was missing school. I survived the chicken pox too, I got a tiny scar on my knee, but I now have natural life long immunity to chicken pox-it's great! The chicken pox vaccine requires boosters, most people probably won't bother with them, then they'll catch chicken pox as adults-which is very serious. That vaccine was invented so kids won't miss school and so people can make money off scare tactics that doctors will push on you.
Laittre's website even quotes what would happen if you don't vaccinate "sick children miss school and can cause parents to lose time from work." oh boohoo!, I'd rather my son miss school than get vaccinated and or vaccine injured.

I would suggest reading the actual research studies done showing that there is no link between vaccines and autism. You can look it up on medline.
Second, who is the author of these websites? I am sure you know that you cannot trust everything you read on the internet, as you do not need to know what you are talking about to have a website. I recommend the CDC website already mentioned as well.
Third, remember about a year ago there was a mumps outbreak? It started from a group of people who were not vaccinated and the spread to others who were susceptible, such as not yet vaccinated babies. If everyone who was able to get vaccinated in the first place had been, there would have been no outbreak! Vaccines exist to protect the community as well as each individual. This is a very important aspect of vaccines. As more and more people are deciding not to vaccinate, the number of people comming down with these diseases is rising. Yes, they are more treatable, but kids still die from all of them, including chicken pox! When you take the gamble to not have your child vaccinated you are relying on the fact that the rest of us will. You are also putting young babies and the elderly at risk of contracting a disease from your child.
This isn't some kind of government conspiracy! Read some reputable scientific literature if you want the truth!

My younger kids have not been vaccinated. They have had measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis and chickenpox. Not one of those diseases was worse than a common cold. If they happen to be at risk for tetanus from an accident, the ER would give them a tet shot right away anyway, because they don't take the time to look up shot records. That leaves polio, which is so extraordinarily rare in the US that their chances of developing is nil unless they leave the country. At which point they'll make that choice.
My older children did have their shots, and they have autism. The younger ones did not, and they don't have it. If it was genetic, then that would be a highly improbable situation. Esp with the CDC saying it's 70% heritable.
Anyway, if you read your vaccine inserts like good mommies and daddies, you can see if your doctor does indeed have mercury free shots. I wouldn't count on it, because those have a shelf life up to this year. At which point they ship it off to third world countries. So we should see a boost there in autism. The cool thing is that after CA outlawed mercury in shots, their newly diagnosed autism rates DID go down.
It's a choice every parent has to make, and no one can tell you what's right or wrong. You have to educate yourself. The funny thing is that vaccinations wear off. When you have the actual disease, your immunization never wears off. Isn't it odd how diseases that were relatively harmless years ago are 'deadly' now...every one of our grandparents had the childhood diseases. In fact, it's been said that the reason there are so many complications with the usual childhood diseases is because we don't get them in childhood anymore, the immunity wears off and we get them as older people. The Mumps outbreak was THIRTY people. That's not even an epidemic. No one died.
And just so you know, we were very careful to isolate our children when they were sick. and where did they get the disease? From newly vaccinated children. Yes, those viruses sure do hop around....think about it when you talk about where 'outbreaks' come from.

Where did you get the idea that "Now there is more mercury put in the vaccines today than there used to be" ?
In fact, on one of the sites you recomended (http://www.immunizationinfo.org/vaccine_components_detail.cfv?id=3), it said:
"Currently, all pediatric vaccines in the routine infant immunization schedule are manufactured without thimerosal (mercury) as a preservative. As of January 14, 2003, the final lots of vaccines containing thimerosal as a preservative expired.
"Other vaccines (for example, influenza vaccine; tetanus and diphtheria vaccine for older children and adults) continue to be manufactured with thimerosal as a preservative—although influenza vaccine without thimerosal preservative is also available."
This means no children recieved vaccines with thimerasol (mercury) after January 14, 2003. If thimerasol cause 20% of the cases of autism, we would be seeing a 20% decrease by now. BUT the autism rate continues to rise!

I agree that vaxes are like playing Russian Roulette, you never know if your child will have an extreme reaction. The only vaxes today that should have mercury (thimerasol) are Anthrax and Flu shots. However, most shots that used Hg as a preservative 10 years ago are today using Aluminum as a preservative which is also a toxin and has its own set of problems. My personal opinion is that the children developing autism after the MMR is more a result of the live measles virus being injected directly into the muscles and bloodstream. A large majority of children with regressive autism have been shown to have the measles virus in their intestinal tract years after the vaccine. Just trying to set the facts straight. (We do not vax.)

I have that worry myself. And 2 of my children have had most of their vaccinations because i lost my paper work.
And your right, they do have it in there but if you ask your doc...he/she will say...oh thats not true, your child will be fine.
My cousin has autism because of that very same thing.
But when it happens 2 or 3 years after the vaccines......it seems unrelated to your doctor and ignored that the vaccines are at fault.
i guess the government would rather have millions of autsistic children running around rather than have an outbreak of some type of illness.

I asked my doctor this question, and he told me there is no mercury used in normal child vaccines. It is used in the flu vaccine, but you don't HAVE to get that for your child.

My baby is not vaccinated.
I made the decision not to vaccinate because most of the diseases children are vaccinated against are treatable these days. They were not so treatable when the vaccines were invented for the diseases. I do not deny the value of vaccinations and their place in a healthy society. Also, just because you are vaccinated for a certain disease, it is not a guarantee that you will become immune to that disease, as is what happened to my vaccinated niece.
The reason for vaccinations is also for the benefit of the pharmaceutical companies. They develop these vaccinations (like the recent development of the chicken pox vaccine) to make money. Pure and simple.
