I may continue on being their friend, but everything they say or do is taken with a grain of salt from then on.

Once a trust is broken, is takes a LONG time to build it up again, if ever. It may depend on the seriousness of the lie and perhaps also if the liar is really sorry. If it only happened once, you may be able to rebuild the trust, but if it happens again, I would not trust that person again and would walk away if possible.

It depends on the situation.
Everybody tells little lies, "No, that looks good on you." or "I was busy so I couldn't call." These are easily forgiven.
I've never had to deal with big lies from friends. I guess if they did lie to me in a big way I would be mad and hurt, but I probably would forgive them eventually. It would be hard and things would seem awkward for a while, but I think things would work out.

I try not to let it get to me and I end up successful in doing so because I know not a single person on this Earth is perfect or ever will be perfect. If what they lied to me about is something major, it will take some time for the damage to be repaired. But if it's something as minute as why they didn't pick up their cell phone, I'm cool with that as long as their intentions were good.

I confront dishonesty head on, and yes, it is hard to trust someone who has lied to me.
