We just got approved for Medicaid. They sent us a brosure to choose a plan for health coverage. I'm so dumn in this things. Most of my friends on UnitedHealthcare of Florida. Also I'm considering Humana Family. Can you please help me with the choice, what's the difference?

And another question: on the bottom of the page it sais " free approved round trip transportation to medical appointments" with Humana Family plan. Does it mean they can give me a free ride to pediatrician or emergincy(I don't drive and my husband works a lot)?

Do you already have a ped? If so, ask which plan they suggest and why. Some ped are very helpful in this area (mine is--but she is a HUGE advocate of Medicaide) and some are not

And honey, you're not dumb in these things, these things are dumb! What they just did to Medicaide is STUPID. I'm in GA and GA Medicaide just lost 3/4 of their oc with this new idea!!! The nearest ortho to me is over almost 200 miles away!!! So now who's stupid??? THE GOVERNMENT!!!!

As a social worker, you really need need to talk to a financial worker and ask them your questions. Because every state and county is different.

Yes the free approved round trip transportation means that they can provide transportation; however, appointments usually need to schedule 2-7 days in advance. So for peds appointments, yes for emergencies...most likely not

Look at what services are offered with each plan. Pick the one that suits the needs you will most likely have. If you anticipate needing rides to and from you medical appointments then make sure that is part of the coverage you will receive.
